Founder | Chairman | Executive Director

"An informed community is a stronger community."

Joshua T. Atkinson is the Founder, Chairman, and Executive Director of Fighting4Freeport, an independent political action committee dedicated to promoting transparency, integrity, and accountability in local government.

A United States Navy veteran with a diverse background in business operations, organizational leadership, public policy, and community advocacy, Joshua founded Fighting4Freeport after recognizing the growing need for greater public access to government information and a stronger culture of accountability at the local level.

Under his leadership, Fighting4Freeport has become a trusted source for in-depth coverage of local government, public meetings, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) investigations, budget analysis, public records research, and civic education. Rather than simply reporting events, the organization focuses on providing context, documentation, and clear explanations that help residents understand how local government decisions affect their daily lives.

Joshua believes transparency is more than a slogan—it is the foundation of public trust. His approach emphasizes thorough research, official documentation, responsible reporting, and making complex government issues accessible to every member of the community.

Throughout his career, Joshua has led organizations in both the private and nonprofit sectors, serving in executive leadership roles that required strategic planning, financial oversight, organizational development, and team leadership. Those experiences continue to shape the vision and operations of Fighting4Freeport today.

As Executive Director, Joshua oversees every aspect of the organization's operations, including investigative research, editorial direction, public records requests, strategic planning, digital media, community engagement, and organizational development.

His guiding philosophy remains simple:

An informed community is a stronger community.
